You won’t need a passport to experience the traditions of Bavaria with Schulz Bräu Brewing Co.'s 10th annual Oktoberfest returning Saturday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 12.
This award-winning brewery is home to one of the largest biergartens in the South + takes its heritage seriously — even featuring retired furniture from Munich’s Oktoberfest.
For three weeks, you can expect rounds of brews + bratwursts, live music, and so much more. The daily schedules are set for Tuesdays-Sundays — we’re tapping in with our top picks throughout the festival.
Masskrugstemmen

Running of the Wieners
Send Oktoberfest off by signing up your wiener dogs, or grabbing a brew and watching, for the annual race on Sunday, Oct. 12. From 3 to 5 p.m., baby brats (puppies under 1) all the way to senior sausages (ages 11+) will compete — sign up online or in person by 2 p.m. on the day.
Knoxville City Council unanimously approved the rail-to-trail Art Walk project. Construction is slated to begin next month, creating a trail along the rail line near Chapman Highway + toward Meads Quarry. Plus, sculptures and murals will be featured. (Knox News)

Fine-dining restaurant Bogartz in Bearden will close its doors after service tomorrow, Sept. 20 after one year of business. Chef Bruce Bogartz will continue catering, teasing holiday packages for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and said he is looking for a new space to open his restaurant.

Mother Bar, the anticipated botanical cocktail and wine bar on Emory Place, is gearing up for its grand opening after nine months of prep. While we await the details, you can check out Mother Shop upstairs.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker + Knoxvillian Dwight “D.D.” Lewis has died at the age of 79. Lewis attended Fulton High School before beginning his football career at Mississippi State and later the NFL — learn more about his legacy with WBIR reporter Justin Wallace. (WBIR)
