Next Monday marks an official end to the dog days of summer. To get us through the final week of this season’s most lethargic days, I’m sharing some of my favorite tips to cool down + stay energized.
Sip on The Marlowe on Central’s summer cocktail, which changes weekly.
Save your fun activities for after dark; this Perseids Meteor Shower paddle takes place at 1 a.m.
Take Florence + the Machine’s advice and run fast (for your mother, father, children, etc.). All jokes aside, try joining one of these local run clubs to beat the slog of the dog days.

City Council approved a ~$19 million project in northwest Knoxville to revamp Pleasant Ridge Road. The project will focus on a section of the road from Merchant Drive to city limits, with construction set to begin in the fall. There will be a chance to provide feedback on the project ahead of construction. (WBIR)

Zoo Knoxville continues to welcome new animals. This time, six adult female ostriches have entered a newly renovated exhibit space across from the Rhino Reserve. This fall, the zoo hopes to introduce an interactive feeding experience between guests + the ostriches. (Knoxville Daily Sun)
