Knoxvillians will soon be able to step inside a historic piece of local real estate. Once home to Coca-Cola heiress Eugenia Williams, the riverfront mansion bearing her name will open to the public this spring after years of renovations.
The Eugenia Williams House is a 10,800-sqft estate designed in 1940 by UT graduate and Williams’ childhood friend John Fanz Staub. Williams was known for filling the home with fine antiques and lived there until moving to a senior living facility in the 1980s. After her death in 1998, she left the property to the University of Tennessee to protect its natural beauty.
Acquired by the Aslan Foundation in 2020, the home has undergone a meticulous rehabilitation that’s nearly ready to be unveiled. Once open, visitors will be able to take tours, attend cultural events and intimate performances, and explore walking trails across the 24-acre property, which features more than 50 tree species.
A grand opening date has not yet been announced, but we’ll continue to keep you updated.
