Did you know that KAT’s Route 10 can take you straight from downtown to Sequoya Hills Park (a prime picnic location, in my opinion)? Check out these local spots where you can grab snacks + plan a park picnic:

News Notes

Real Estate

You could own a 13-story slice of real estate in downtown Knoxville, for the right cost. The 1960s-era tower at 607 Market St. recently went up for sale without a specific asking price. Scroll down to share what you’d like to see in this space.

Biz

Statewide startup nonprofit Launch Tennessee opened applications for its 3686 pitch competition happening Tuesday, Sept. 9. The winning pitch will receive a prize including $10,000 in cash. Knoxville startups are encouraged to apply to pitch by Friday, Aug. 15.

Two high school football teammates in Georgia recently committed to the Vols one day a part — and without discussing it beforehand. Four-star linebacker Brayden Rouse + three-star safety Jowell Combay will be part of the 2026 class, WBIR’s Emilie Rae Cochrane shared.

Mansion Monday

Sure, the 1940s horse barn, wine cellar, and library are cool — but imagine the game of hide-and-seek you could play in this 10,187-sqft home. There are five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a guest house, a carriage house, and a barn to choose from, so this game may take a while.

Arts

Have you been to the Knoxville Museum of Art’s “Electricity for All” exhibit yet? The exhibit, running now through Sunday, Aug. 17, examines the relationship between technology, information, and power through the historical framework of the Tennessee Valley Authority.
