Ready to ride? Get a crash course on the rules of the road + try these six trails around the Greater Knoxville area. Pro tip: Check out each map for places to stop along your journey.
Norris Lake Hill Challenge | 38 miles + 3,500-ft elevation range
They call it a challenge for a reason — seasoned riders can expect steep climbs + sections of gravel roads. A dip in the lake will make it worth the journey.
Townsend Out-and-Back | 19 miles + 700-ft elevation range
Take it easy on this quick and scenic journey through the Great Smoky Mountains — relax with a glass at Cades Cove Cellars.
Foothills Parkway Challenge | 63 miles + 8,100-ft elevation range
Travel along vistas comparable to Colorado and the western states all the way from Sevierville to Tallassee, with plenty of stopping points to rest + capture the sights.
Tellico River Out-and-Back | 34 miles + 1,600-ft elevation range
This route is currently closed for bridge construction, but once it reopens, you can ride through Cherokee National Forest — don’t forget to stop at the Green Cove Angler Store.
Cherohala Skyway Challenge | 59 miles + 7,400-ft elevation range
Take your time along this route by stopping at one of the many scenic overlooks — we’ll catch you at Baby Falls.
Cumberland Gap Loop | 40 miles + 2,400-ft elevation range
Adventurous travelers can explore this mountain town that’s ~1.5 hours away while riding south along the Cumberland Mountains.
