Knoxville businesses pull off clever April Fools’ Day pranks

See a fake Chilhowee Park makeover, a silent disco after closing, and more local gags we almost believed.

A large glass pyramid structure against a clear blue sky, displaying the "Bass Pro Shops" logo. Trees and a building are visible at the base.

No joke: Knoxville knows how to celebrate April Fools’ Day.

We scrolled Instagram this week — skeptically, of course — to round up some of the silliest pranks local businesses and organizations pulled.

Visit Farragut
Watch out, Memphis — Farragut is coming for your claim to fame. The town teased plans for a pyramid-shaped Bass Pro Shops.

Knoxville Brew
Knoxville Brew took to Instagram to announce its logo would be featured on a new sculpture in World’s Fair Park. To be fair, coffee really is monumental.

Inside of Knoxville
The local publication shared a story claiming city leaders had come together — “after a very thorough 90 seconds of discussion” — to approve a revamped Chilhowee Park, complete with a lazy river, glow-in-the-dark splash zones, and a mountain coaster. Not to be dramatic, but we’d support this.

Next Level Knoxville Brewing
This brewery had us double-checking the calendar. Staff posted a last-minute event for a silent disco featuring “The Bachelor” re-runs — with a start time nearly two hours after closing. We wonder if anyone showed up.

University of Tennessee
The university’s dining team joked about a new “feature” for its Starship Robots delivery service: Each robot will take “just one bite” of your order for quality control before drop-off.

Did you see a prank you liked? Send it our way.
